Klaus Schrodt

Klaus has been the German National Aerobatic Champion for many years and in 2001 became the Freestyle World Aerobatic Champion. Klaus also won the 2005 World Championship Freestyle Aerobatic with this Extra 300S.
He is the only top aerobatic pilot who has also been a champion yachtsman. For some time his two great passions were aviation and sailing. At the age of 12 he dreamt of building his own glider and at 14 he was flying single seat gliders.
He was so dedicated to flying that each day he traveled 30kms on his bicycle to clean the aircraft hangar in exchange for 10 minutes free flying
lessons. At one point he even worked on road construction so he could have more time to fly.
At the age of 19 he joined the Lufthansa Flying School and was a Lufthansa Captain until he retired in 2002.
In his mid-twenties, he bought a sailing boat and started competing in single handed transatlantic regattas. Finally, six years later with the experience of many regattas behind him, he realised he did not have enough time for both sports which led to his decision to put his energy into aerobatics.
